About the role
Job Introduction
Are you looking to work in consumer research? This is an important role in our small, friendly central insights team, reporting into the Pan-BBC Studios Insight Manager.
You will support in all areas of research and insight. This will involve generating, analysing and communicating data and insights to people working at BBC Studios. The insights relate to consumers, markets, industries and trends in the UK and around the world, rather than focusing on TV programmes. You will develop your experience in tasks such as analysing survey data and conducting thorough desk research in order to identify and explain opportunities.
The ideal candidate will possess 1-2 years’ experience in market research or another role related to data analysis. You will be highly organised, have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and good written and verbal communication skills.

This role is in the Data & Insights team, which works closely with all parts of the BBC Studios business: consumer products, marketing, customer engagement, digital and social media, production, sales and distribution. We work in close collaboration with other research teams including internationally.
Main Responsibilities
Support the Senior Insight Executive, Insight Manager & Head of Planning in the analysis and dissemination of insights across the business.
Be an expert in our analytics tools e.g. TechEdge, GWI, Plum (Don’t worry we can train you on these).
Support a range of research projects that explore consumer attitudes and behaviour. In particular this role covers topics that are not related to TV e.g. gaming, social media, consumer products.
Keep track of wider consumer and industry trends and emerging competitors, and play a role in the articulation of how and why these might affect BBC Studios’ business.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
What’s most important is that you are highly organised with an eye for detail and a passion for getting things done.
The ideal candidate will possess 1-2 years’ experience in market research or another role related to data analysis. Experience in the media or entertainment industries is ideal, but we welcome applications from other industries.
Analytical skills and a track record of extracting insights from secondary data sources using analytical tools
Experience of making contributions towards research or insight projects would be desirable.
A passion and aptitude for sharing knowledge and insight creatively; being able to clearly communicate data.
Experience using TechEdge and a familiarity with BARB ratings data is desirable.
You may also have experience with other audience measurement tools, e.g. audience profiling tools such as YouGov profiles, GWI or TGI.
Familiarity with Microsoft– Excel, Word, PowerPoint is essential.
A keen and demonstrable interest in the TV/Media industry and its outputs.
